Memories that will last a lifetime

About our Jr. Ambassador Programs

Our Junior Ambassador Program fosters cultural exchange between the two cities in a shorter time-frame than our full year offerings. Each spring, students from Asahikawa visit Bloomington-Normal, immersing themselves in American culture and staying with local host families. In return, Bloomington-Normal students travel to Asahikawa during the summer, experiencing Japanese traditions and forming lasting bonds with their Japanese counterparts. Often, many of the same families share responsibilities of hosting, further strengthening the connections between our communities and their households. This reciprocal exchange program provides invaluable opportunities for young people to develop international friendships, language skills, and cultural experiences.
